Continuing its work with the U.S. Department of State as a Cultural Ambassador, Company | E returned to the Urals for its third program since December 2014; its fourth program in Russia overall.
Perhaps not since the end of the Soviet Union has culture come forward as such a vital part of the dialogue between the United States and Russia. There have been the celebrated highlights of U.S. - Russian relations as when we were a part of the opening celebrations of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg, dancing in the Alexander Theater and spending a week in the classroom with exceptional students. There was the 2010 tour, which featured Paul Taylor's "Esplanade," at the Little Maly Theater. And then two major concert tours through the Urals in 2014 and 2015, with 12 sold out concerts and to-capacity master classes even as U.S.-Russian relations on an official level soured. Incredible kindness and generosity on a "people-to-people" level.
In 2017 three of Company | E's artists celebrate the magic of Broadway, of the Great White Way, with the students of the Chelyabinsk Institute of Arts. BROADWAY BOUND Co-Directors Amikaeyla Gaston and Paul Gordon Emerson, along with choreographer/dancers Boris Willis and Arman Bayev join the students for a week of Master Classes and repertory to bring them into the magic of the Broadway world.
An amazing, elegant return to Russia in November, 2017.
