A Return to China

In September, 2018, seven years after the Company's first concert and education programs in China, Company | E returned to Shanghai to join artists from 11 other countries at the Shanghai DANCESTAGES International Dance Festival.

For the festival the Company brought back to the repertory on of its signature works, Lidia Wos's "Who Let the Dogs Out." Ms. Wos, a native of Poland living and creating in Sweden, set WLTDO on Company | E in 2016 as a part of "Generations: Poland," which had its premiere at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts at home in DC.

The Company taught an exceptional group of students in a series of Master Classes and took to the French Concession in Old Shanghai to make a site specific film, "Writer's Block" based on Ms. Wos's work.

Plans are underway for an extended tour in the 2019 - 2020 season, and partnerships are in the works for Company | E's choreographers to create works on different companies in China.

The films below are from both 2018 and 2011, showcasing the concert and site-specific film work as well as the Master Classes around Shanghai. In 2011 the Company also worked in both Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
