Cultural Diplomacy

The breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991 created newly independent states where there had been Soviet Republics. New diplomatic relations emerged. In 2016/2017 many of those nations are celebrating their 25th anniversary, and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations with the United States.

In Ukraine the capstone of the U.S. Embassy's 25th anniversary celebration is a three week engagment by Company | E to tour, to teach and to celebrate that relationship through art. The Company brings one of its signature works, Robert J. Priore's "Speak Easy," to Ukraine for a weeklong tour. Then, as the "Speak Easy" team heads home, the BROADWAY BOUND team starts a 10 day intensive training and rehearsal process, culminating in two extraordinary shows featuring a cast of Ukrainian and American dancers, singers and musicians performing some of the most beloved works of the Great White Way.

Catch a glimpse of BROADWAY BOUND in these videos from our 2015 Montevideo, Uruguay and our 2016 Baku, Azerbaijan shows.
