COMPANY | E announces new Kennedy Center commmission for 2019
VOYAGERS marks the fourth Kennedy Center commission for Company | E since 2017.

Company | E continues its partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Peforming Arts with VOYAGERS, a new commission for an origian work for young audiences. Build on an enterily new arrangment of the classic "The Planets" by Gustav Holst as arranged by Eric Shimelonis, VOYAGERS takes the stage in March 2019.

COMPANY | E HEADS TO KAZAKHSTAN in JUNE and JULY 2016
Headlining 25th Anniversary Celebration of U.S. - Kazak relations with Gala July 4 and July 6, 2016 Concerts and a Two-Week DANCE SUMMIT

Company | E, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Astana, Kazakhstan will partner for a three-week program in summer 2016. The two-part program features a two-week Teachers and Dancers Intensive to be held at the University of the Arts in Astana and a Gala Two-Concert BROADWAY BOUND performance on U.S. Indepdence Day, July 4 and on the birthday of Kazakh President Nazarbaeyev on July 6.

COMPANY | E ANNOUNCES FOUR CONCERT COLLABORATION IN JERUSALEM and RAMALLAH - JULY 2016
Building on a six year partnership with dance and music artists, and in partnership with the U.S. Consulate General, Jerusalem, Company | E stages "The Butterfly's Burden" from July 16 - 24th, 2016

Company | E, in partnership with the U.S. Consulate, Jerusalem and the Sabreen Music Center announces the renewal of an elegant partnership to bring to the Concert Hall stages of Jerusalem and Ramallah Company | E's exploration and celebration of the poetry of Palestinian National Poet Mahmoud Darwish. "The Butterfly's Burden" is an evening-length work built around the great poet and statesman's writings. With an original score by Gavin Stewart to be performed live, and featuring both the dancers of Company | E and Palestine, the program speaks to the power of movement to gather together ideas, art, and shared humanity.

COMPANY | E ANNOUNCES THREE WEEK CONCERT AND EDUCATION TOUR TO AZERBAIJAN - MAY 2016

Company | E, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Baku, Azerbaijan announces at six concert, two program collaboration in four Azerbaijani cities in May, 2016. Beginning with the Company's signature BROADWAY BOUND program the tour promises an entirely new level, and kind, of engagement between Azerbaijani artists and their American counterparts. BROADWAY BOUND brings six American artists to Baku to work with the State Musical Theater in the creation of an evening-length revue featuring many of the most treasured songs and dances from the Broadway canon.

Following the BROADWAY BOUND program, Company | E changes gears -- and dancers -- and takes the entire dance troupe on a whirlwind 6 day, four city tour of Azerbaijan with Robert J. Priore's Kennedy Center Commission, "Speak Easy."

COMPANY | E MOVEMENT CENTER HOLDS FIRST SEMESTER SHOWING - MAY 21, 2016

The Company | E Movement Center at the Dance Loft on 14 holds its first performance showing by its young dancers on Saturday, May 21st, 2016 at the Center's home at the Dance Loft on 14.

After a remarkable first semester in which the Center enrolled over 100 students, the showing caps a wonderful beginning for the school. "We're so proud of our students, and of our parents and faculty, noted Chanel Smith, the Managing Director at the Movement Center. They've accomplished something special in just these five months we've been together. I can't wait for everyone to see, and celebrate, their art and achievements."

Darrow Montgomery imagesCityDance Ensemle frequently earned high marks from local critics, but what really set the eight-person contemporary dance company apart was its connections: a partnership with North Bethesda's Strathmore arts center that gave the company a permanent home and commodious rehearsal space; a perch as a cultural ambassador for the U.S. Department of State; and a performance hot streak involving works by choreographers who rarely license out their creations. Credit went to Emerson, now 52, who over a dozen years working as a Capitol Hill staffer and Democratic campaign operative honed the art of distilling opportunity from connections.

COMPANY | E WINS KENNEDY CENTER 2012 COMMISSION
February 13, 2012

Company E is named to create a new evening-length performance for the young and the young-at-heart with its take on the classic tales of Don Quixote. "Sancho,Dulcinea, their Knight and his Quest" debuts in late September 2012. A part of Company E's NEXT:SPAIN season-long program, presented by the Embassy of Spain, the Washington Performing Arts Society and the Shakespeare Theatre Company, the Kennedy Center Commission brings the Company back to young audiences. "This is one of my favorite things to do -- work for and with young people," notes Company E's Executive Director, Paul Emerson.
